Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Bothlo handles account and debate data. Last updated: 21 July 2026.

Who controls the data

Bothlo is operated by the service owner responsible for publishing the official daily topics and managing member accounts.

Data Bothlo stores

  • Your email address and encrypted authentication credentials.
  • Your username, optional biography, optional avatar image link, and account timestamps.
  • Your selected topic, visible side label, argument text, status, and submission timestamps.
  • Your debate and argument comments, replies, comment timestamps, and like/dislike reactions on argument comments.
  • Your FOR or AGAINST votes on arguments and your daily Best Argument choice.
  • Reports you submit about profiles, arguments, or comments, including the selected reason and optional details.
  • Technical security logs needed to protect the service.

Why the data is used

Bothlo uses this information to create and secure your account, display official topics, save your argument, show its waiting status, let you cancel a waiting argument, show arguments, count votes, reveal authors after voting, display debate and argument comments, count comment reactions, receive reports, highlight the best argument of the day, and calculate rankings.

Who can see it

Visitors can read public waiting arguments with the topic and side label, plus comments and replies under public arguments. Today's argument authors are hidden until a logged-in member votes on that argument. Signed-in members can read protected debate comments and replies. Public profiles and rankings show usernames, biography text, avatar links, argument counts, point totals, and aggregate vote totals. Email addresses, account IDs, private authentication data, and report details are not shown publicly. Trusted service operators may access data when required to run, secure, or moderate Bothlo.

Service providers

Bothlo may use secure authentication, database, hosting, and email providers to operate the service. Their selected regions and privacy terms may affect processing.

Retention and deletion

Bothlo keeps account and argument data while it is needed for the service. Members may request access, correction, export, objection, or deletion where those rights apply.

Local device storage

Bothlo stores the signed-in session in browser storage so you remain logged in. It may cache application shell files so the interface opens reliably, but it does not cache submitted arguments, comments, votes, or reports.

Your choices

You can edit your public profile fields and log out from the app. Contact the service owner to exercise any additional privacy rights that apply in your location.
