For parents and guardians
Parental Consent Notice
A simple explanation of the Bothlo account requested by a young person aged 13–15.
What Bothlo is
Bothlo is a public debate website. People can read public content without an account. Members can publish topics, arguments, comments and replies; vote and react; and have a public username, avatar and biography. Bothlo has no private chat, advertising or paid features.
What your child can do
After consent and the configured review, the account may publish public content, join official debates and Community discussions, react, vote, report problems and appear in public profiles/rankings for official activity. Anything public can be copied or indexed outside Bothlo. Please discuss safe sharing with the young person.
Data used
Bothlo stores the child's email, username, full date of birth privately, optional avatar/bio, publications and activity, safety reports and moderation records. It stores your email, the time and result of the consent request, hashed tokens, the document versions and any withdrawal/deletion request. Your email is used for consent and account-safety communication, not marketing.
Your choice
The email link is valid for 48 hours and can be used once. Confirm only if you are the parent or legal guardian, understand the public nature of the service and approve the account. Confirmation creates a separate secure management link. Keep it private.
Withdrawal and deletion
You may use the management link to revoke consent or request deletion. Revocation restricts publishing; deletion starts the protected deletion process. You may also contact contact@bothlo.com. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful, and some anonymised public contributions or safety records may remain where legally justified.
Safety and rights
Bothlo moderates reports, can hide content and restrict accounts, and provides appeals for eligible decisions. You and the child may request access, correction, restriction or deletion subject to law. Read the Privacy Notice, Young Users Summary, Terms and Community Guidelines.
