Bothlo legal documents
Terms of Service
These Terms govern use of Bothlo at bothlo.com. Please read them together with the Privacy Notice and Community Guidelines.
1. Operator and contact
Bothlo is provided by Monika Kaźmierczak, a natural person based in Poland and not acting as a registered business. Address: [ADRES OPERATORA]. Contact: contact@bothlo.com. The operator is also the controller of personal data described in the Privacy Notice.
2. The service
Bothlo is a public social debate service. It provides two official daily topics, FOR and AGAINST arguments, opponent matching for official debates, time-limited voting, comments and replies, reactions, rankings, streaks, profiles, an official archive, and an open Community forum. Community Topics are published immediately and discussed through comments carrying FOR, AGAINST or NEUTRAL stances; Community activity has no opponent matching, winner, Best Argument, official ranking or streak effect.
Visitors may read public topics, arguments, Community Topics, comments, replies, profiles and rankings without an account. An active account is required to publish, react, vote, report through in-product tools or use other member features. Bothlo does not currently provide advertising, paid features, private chat or an additional social-login provider.
3. Technical requirements and availability
You need a current browser, JavaScript, cookies or equivalent essential browser storage, and an internet connection. Some account forms require Cloudflare Turnstile. Google login is optional; email registration remains available. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, security work or failures of infrastructure providers. Bothlo does not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.
4. Registration, age and legal onboarding
- You must provide accurate account information and choose a username that does not impersonate another person.
- People under 13 may not create or use a Bothlo account.
- Users aged 13–15 require a parent or legal guardian to approve the account through the secure consent process. Publishing remains disabled until that process and the configured review are complete.
- Users aged 16 or older may activate their own account after providing their date of birth and accepting the required documents.
- Google sign-in does not bypass age checks, parental consent or acceptance of the documents.
If age or authority information is false, Bothlo may restrict or remove the account. A parent may revoke consent or request deletion using the secure management link or by contacting Bothlo.
5. Account security
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials and devices secure, promptly reporting suspected misuse, and keeping your email address available. Do not share passwords or authentication links. Bothlo may require reauthentication, invalidate sessions, rate-limit requests or temporarily restrict access to protect users and the service.
6. User content and your rights
You keep authorship and all rights you already hold in topics, arguments, comments, replies, profile text and images you submit. You must have the right to publish them.
You grant Bothlo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence for as long as the content is hosted or reasonably retained for a dispute, legal duty or backup cycle, solely to store, reproduce technically, display, transmit, format, secure, moderate and make the content available through Bothlo. This licence does not transfer ownership and does not allow Bothlo to sell your work or use it for unrelated advertising.
Because public discussions need continuity, deleting an account may anonymise retained contributions instead of erasing the discussion. Removed comments with replies may remain as a neutral “[Comment removed]” marker. Details are in the Privacy Notice.
7. Publishing and voting rules
Official Daily Debates and Community are different systems. Follow the visible character limits, side labels and voting rules. Do not use multiple accounts, automation, coordinated voting, fake reports or other methods to manipulate matchmaking, results, rankings, streaks, reactions or visibility. Official Bothlo starter arguments are editorial content, clearly labelled, and are not user activity.
8. Prohibited content and conduct
You must follow the Community Guidelines. In particular, do not post unlawful content, threats, harassment, hate or dehumanising content, sexual exploitation or sexualisation of minors, instructions encouraging self-harm, non-consensual intimate material, private personal data, spam, scams, impersonation, malicious links, copyright infringements or content designed to manipulate platform systems. Do not attempt to bypass access controls, scrape private data, attack the service or interfere with other users.
9. Reports and illegal-content notices
Use in-product reports for guideline violations. Anyone may use the public illegal-content reporting channel for content believed to be unlawful and should provide an accurate content reference, explanation and contact email in good faith. A report does not automatically remove content. Knowingly abusive, fraudulent or repeated bad-faith reports may lead to restrictions.
10. Moderation and enforcement
Depending on seriousness, context and history, Bothlo may limit visibility, hide or remove content, lock a Community Topic, restrict publishing, suspend an account, impose a time-limited or permanent ban, preserve relevant evidence, or refer a matter to competent authorities where required. Bothlo may act urgently where safety or law requires it. Moderation may use automated pre-filtering to prioritise review, but ambiguous content is not automatically removed solely because it receives many reports.
Where the system records a moderation decision affecting your content or account, it provides a reason and an appeal deadline. Eligible users may submit one appeal through the Moderation Decisions screen. See Content Moderation and Appeals.
11. Blocking, suspension and termination
You may block another user where the feature is available. Bothlo may restrict or suspend an account while investigating risk, a report or a consent issue. A ban can be temporary or permanent. Restrictions do not eliminate lawful rights to data access, complaint or appeal.
12. Account deletion
You may request account deletion from the profile security tools. The server verifies the signed-in account and asks for explicit confirmation. The profile is anonymised, the stored avatar is removed where technically possible, and the Supabase Auth account is soft-deleted. Content needed to preserve public discussion, vote integrity, moderation records, legal claims or compliance may remain in anonymised or restricted form. Team members must have elevated access removed before deleting their account. Parents may request deletion for a child through the parental management process.
13. Complaints and support
Send service complaints, legal questions and rights requests to contact@bothlo.com, describing the issue and desired outcome. Bothlo may ask for information needed to verify identity or locate the matter. This does not limit mandatory consumer complaint routes or the right to contact a court, regulator or data-protection authority.
14. Responsibility
You are responsible for your content and unlawful misuse of the service. Bothlo is not the author of user content and does not endorse opinions merely because they appear on the service. To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, the service is provided without guarantees about accuracy, availability or suitability, and liability for indirect or unforeseeable loss is excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights or liability for intentional wrongdoing.
15. Governing law
Polish law governs these Terms. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections provided by the law of your habitual residence. Disputes are heard by courts competent under applicable law; these Terms do not force a consumer into an unlawful forum.
16. Changes and versions
The current version and effective date appear at the top. Material changes will be announced in a clear form before they take effect where required. If renewed acceptance is necessary, publishing access may be paused until the new documents are reviewed. Earlier acceptance records may be kept to demonstrate which version applied.
